a. Trước động từ thường
Ví dụ:
- They often get up at 6 a.m.
(Họ thường thức dậy lúc 6 giờ sáng)
- I usually come home at midnight.
(Tôi thường về nhà vào nửa đêm)
- I sit there.
(Tôi ngồi ở đó)
- She runs fast.
(Cô ấy chạy nhanh)
c. Sau tân ngữ của động từ
Ví dụ: He made a conclusion quickly before I can say anything.
(Anh ấy đưa ra kết luận vội vàng trước khi tôi kịp nói bất cứ điều gì)
d. Sau động từ khiếm khyết và động từ to be
Ví dụ:
- I can never imagine this situation.
- I’m only going to stay at home in during the holiday.
(Tôi chỉ tính ở nhà trong suốt kỳ nghỉ lễ thôi)
Lưu ý: Đối với động từ to be, khi muốn tỏ ý nhấn mạnh thì vị trí trạng từ trong câu thay đổi. Thay vì đứng sau thì bây giờ trạng từ đứng trước to be.
- Don't believe Martha. She never is inocent.
(Đừng tin Martha. Cô ta không bao giờ vô tội)
- The file was secretly deleted.
(Hồ sơ đã được bí mật xóa đi)
- He had slowly eaten his breakfast.
(Anh ấy ăn bữa sáng 1 cách từ tốn)
- Ví dụ: Does it ever cross your mind?
- She often says she wants to visit her grandmother. (Often bổ nghĩa cho “says").
(Cô ấy thường nói mình muốn về thăm bà)
- She says she often wants to visits her grandmother. (Often bổ nghĩa cho “wants")
(Cô ấy nói mình thường muốn đến thăm bà)
