A. Nhiều từ có hai âm tiết xuất phát từ từ có một âm tiết. Ví dụ, từ ‘artist’ xuất phát từ từ ‘art’; từ ‘remove’ xuất phát từ từ ‘move’. Ở các từ hai âm tiết này, trọng âm thường ở từ gốc.

B. Nhiều danh từ và tính từ, không có từ gốc, có trọng âm ở âm đầu. Ví dụ, từ ‘brother’ không xuất phát từ từ ‘broth’ nhưng trọng âm vẫn nhấn ở âm đầu. 

Nghe câu sau và chú ý trọng âm ở danh từ và tính từ Oo. 

The artist's most famous picture shows some women and children in a lovely forest with a purple mountain behind. 

 

C. Hầu hết các động từ có hai âm tiết, không có từ gốc, có trọng âm ở âm thứ hai. Ví dụ, từ ‘repeat’ không xuất phát từ từ ‘peat’ nhưng trọng âm nằm ở âm thứ hai. 

Nghe câu sau và chú ý trọng âm ở các động từ oO.

D. Nhiều từ có thể là danh từ và động từ. Ví dụ, ‘record’ là danh từ nếu bạn nhấn âm đầu và là động từ nếu bạn nhấn âm sau. Cùng nghe các ví dụ sau, bạn sẽ được nghe mỗi từ hai lần, lần đầu là danh từ, sau đó là động từ.

28.1 Với các từ trong ngoặc, tạo động từ bằng cách thêm ‘r’ vào phía trước, tạo danh từ bằng cách thêm ‘r’ vào phía sau của từ, sau đó điền vào chỗ trống. Sau đó, nghe và kiểm tra đáp án.

28.3 Đọc các câu sau và xác định trọng âm của các từ in đậm. Sau đó, nghe và kiểm tra lại đáp án.
